take placeは「既に計画されていたことが起こる」という意味で「起こる」という意味のほかに「開催される」「行われる」と訳される。つまり、take placeは自動詞扱いなので受動態にはならない。イベントや大会、会議が行われる、というときに使われる言葉。happenやoccurには「予期していたことが起こる」という意味がある。
